Foundation van Hand tot Hand supports underprivileged families in Sri Lanka on a small-scale.

We want to give optimum chances to the children in Sri Lanka so that they will be able to function as good as possible in society by improving their living conditions, upbringing and education.

A selection of our activities in Sri Lanka:

• we sponsor children;
• we build houses, toilets, wells and much more;
• we provide children with learning materials, books and uniforms;
• we buy games equipment;
• we improve sports accommodations, playgrounds of schools and such-like;
• we support homes for children;
• we pay for necessary medical aid;
• we advise and  mediate in personal projects;
• we support good initiatives of young entrepeneurs;

We do more and more.................

All projects are guided by our assistents on the spot. We give our support preferably in kind, so we are sure of a good use of funds.

The foundation operates solely with volunteers. No money is wasted. A donation for a project will be spent on that project for 100%. The sponsoring of a child will go completely to the child and the family! That is our guarantee and we are proud of it!
By providing assistence, through projects or sponsoring, we will buy the necessary materials, goods and such like on the spot in Sri Lanka. We import nó goods and we will not transport containers with goods to Sri Lanka. We believe that the required goods should be bought in Sri Lanka: in that way we also support the local retailers! The costs of shipping goods is better spent on schools, children and families which we support.

Since the foundation in 1994 we have arranged a sponsor for almost 200 children. Some of these children have found their way into society thanks to the support from the Netherlands and the upbringing in homes for children.

We are a relativily small foundation. The board and the volunteers can be reached easily and are in direct contact with our sponsors. All projects will be personaly guided by local people. We give a lot of attention on checking things on the spot. Every year boardmembers and volunteers go to Sri Lanka to work there.
