On Thursday 9 April 2009 primary school "De Hoogakker" in Breda organized an Easter market. The proceeds of this market will benefit to the work of our foundation.

In cooperation with the school Jan Heerkens and Edwin Somers organized an information day on Friday 3 April. During this information day we saw all the children of "De Hoogakker" in one of the gaming rooms of both locations of this school in Breda. We were able to tell the children about Sri Lanka particularly and the work of our foundation in general.

It was a great experience to work with a motivated team and with several hundreds of very interested children for a day. Children who want to know where Sri Lanka is situated, what kind of food they eat over there, how the people look like, how the houses look like and much more. Particurlarly the part where we showed what kind of animals live in Sri Lanka appeared to be good for a lot of reactions and interactions over and over again. They also loved  the stories about houses made of clay, which is made of water, sand and dung.

We noticed a lot of admiration when we showed what the effect is of our work. That a hole in the ground will become a real well. That a house made of clay is replaced by a house made of stones, which children of the family worked on themselves. That we can make people happy even with old glasses. We ended every session with teaching two Sinhalese words.

hoogakker3For us a heart-warming day on which we were able to tell proudly about our work. NBS "De Hoogakker" donates the proceeds of the Easter market 2009 to us and we promised that we will come back after summer holidays to tell them what we were able to do with the proceeds. We will keep that promise for sure.

On behalf of us a well-meant "Bohome Estuti" for "De Hoogakker".
