Foundation van Hand tot Hand - active in Sri Lanka

In 1994 Sjaak Berben, a former teacher from Tilburg, was on holiday in Sri Lanka. After visiting several other countries in the region, this year he went to Sri Lanka during his holiday. Because he was interested in the population of the island and wanted to know more about the living conditions of children (after all as a teacher he was involved in raising children during his whole life), he visited Fatima Boys' Home in Welihena. That's how eventually the foundation van Hand tot Hand started. With his foundation Sjaak wanted to take care of a better life for children in Sri Lanka.

The foundation van Hand tot Hand exists since 1994. We dedicate ourselves for the welfare of the inhabitants of Sri Lanka, the beautiful island in the Indian Ocean just beneath India. Since our foundation in 1994 we mainly focus on children, in homes, in families and in schools.
