Fieldworker: Shehan Tissera

Our fieldworker and support and anchor in Sri Lanka is Shehan Tissera.

The Foundation van Hand tot Hand has been active in Sri Lanka since 1994. Looking back on these years a lot has changed. The start was to build a house for a family, who lived with a severely handicapped son in a wooden house with a corrugated roof. The gratitude of the family was huge: from the first moment, the father deployed his best employees to the Foundation for free to assist and give advice until the moment he suddenly died in August 1997. The 23 year old brother of the handicapped son, Shehan Tissera, promised to continue his father's work. Shehan has been our contact in Sri Lanka for more then 12 years now. He spends his little free time completely to help our foundation. With unlimited dedication he knows exactly to gain that information which we need to be able to do our work as good as possible. Shehan is the cornerstone of our work.

Periodically there are various volunteers active for the foundation. These volunteers are crucial for our work. In the section "Volunteers" you can read a lot more about them and their experiences.
