2008.03 - Construction of a house in Negombo Print E-mail

Our volunteers Peter and Netty Dobbelsteen know this family for several years now. The hut was made of old wood and the roof was constructed using old iron plates. The family is very happy with the spot they live, but each rainy season they have major problem. The piece of land on which they live is lower than that of the neighbors and regularly floods when it has rained. In those times the family must seek refuge elsewhere.
We want to build a new house for this family. When doing so, we must also raise the groundfloor.
In het voorjaar van 2008 hebben Netty en Peter het nieuwe huisje mee opgeleverd. We decide to do so.

In the spring of 2008, Peter and Netty are invited to open the new house. This family is very happy with the improved living conditions. Now they keep their feet dry and they no longer have to leave their home every few months.
