In Sri Lanka you will find a good optician in every big city . We think that we should use them. In Polonaruwa we have already met an optician and we have done some business together.
Spectacles with glass still prove a problem. You need to have the right glasses for the right person. Even if the glasses are of the measured strength .... it should be just right. Moreover, the focus is then not always in the right place. Glasses can be ordered in Sri Lanka. Frames are often the most expensive part for people. In many cases they are too expensive.
We intend to ask schools and homes, which are sponsored by us, to provide us with the names of those people that need to have glasses. We then want to have their eyes measured by an optician. If the optician thinks someone really needs glasses, We then want them to pick a frame. These frames are deliverd to us by the Dutch aid organisation "Eyeclarify". We pay for the services of the optician and for the glasses.
The sisters of the homes were quite excited at seeing the frames for children's glasses. Also the sun glasses were very popular.
The new glasses project is still in its infancy. We do not want to work too fast. Slowly experience and learn for ourselves.

We thank Enny Smit de Wolf of Eyeclarify for the pleasant cooperation.

The project is made possible with the help of  Eyeclarify.
