2008.30 - Electricity for a family in Diyabeduma Print E-mail

In Diyabeduma we had a lot of requests. Shehan showed the pile of letters. Together with his wife he already made a selection. To ensure we do not cause commotion and jealousy in  Diyabeduma, we already decided to request a meeting with local authorities last year. At the Namalwewaschool we realized such a meeting. Present were: Shehan, Bart, Mr. Lionel (school secretary), Mr. Ammaradassa (former principal), a representative on behalf of the parents, and the gramma seeweke. This is a government-paid official, who has the care and responsibility over a village or a region.

I started the meeting with a piece of history and have indicated that we still like to help, but that we could not do this anymore without the cooperation and consent of the attendees, because the number of applications has grown dramatically. We understand that everyone will take the opportunity to ask for help, but priorities must be set. The local people can truly judge who needs help the most and who needs less help . We have talked about possible solutions. Each application will be seriously discussed with several people.

Electricity for T.K.G. Nuwan Sandakalum in Diyabeduma has been approved during this meeting.
