On the 24th of July we travelled together with Shehan to a small place in the surroundings of Galle for the delivery of a house, which is build for a family commissioned by a sponsor from the Netherlands. We were impressed about the act our building team had delivered. On a difficult place to reach, the ground was equalized and the fundament was made of blackstone. In order to do that they heated an enormous boulder so it split in pieces. When we arrived, the last thing was done: the red/brown coating was accurately smeared on the floor. The house already looked snug when uninhabited. The future inhabitants who still lived in a hut, were very happy.
Our builder Ranjith and our local employee Shehan have worked together for a long time, and form a good and trustable team together. One of the employees asked Shehan a favor. He regularly experiences the luck of people which are helped by our foundation and now asked something for himself: a connection for electricity in his house. It’s sensitive to answer yes or no. The solution was that we do something extra for the whole construction team this year. Last year before Christmas they got foodvouchers which they could spend. This year we want to put some extra rupees in the envelopes. They can decide what to do with it themselves. For example, pay an electricity connection.
