I want to introduce myself to anyone interested in the foundation van Hand tot Hand. My name is Josca Verboven and I'm 57 years old. In my daily life I work as a surgery assistant.

Sjaak Berben was an uncle of a friend. When I was on a holiday with her in Sri Lanka 10 years ago, I met Shehan. I was very charmed by the country and it seemed me a great pleasure to spend some 4 weeks there every winter. Every holiday I have spent there since, I went with Sjaak and Shehan to different projects. It felt great. Doing this, I learned all about the other side of Sri Lanka. I then jokingly said to Sjaak that I would take over his work as soon as I would retire..... Unfortunately Sjaak died earlier.

My love for the country and its people has remained and through my work for the foundation I have the opportunity to do some of Sjaak's work, together with Shehan. At work I build up the necessary overtime to take additional holidays and work for the foundation in Sri Lanka. Since the tsunami I have worked together with Frans, who I know from the hospital. Two years ago my sister Jeanne joined in and since then she also has been affected by the Sri Lanka virus. Fortunately, I would say so, because I am very happy with that. Because we both like it so much, we stay closely in touch with everbody throughout the year. I hope that I can remain working with them for many years to come.
